JULES MUCK

My intention for this blog always was and still is to write about music and share my thoughts, experiences and opinions on today’s music scene with anyone who cared to listen. Today, however, I feel compelled to share the incredible art from a lovely, young, extremely talented badass by the name of Jules Muck that I had the pleasure to meet over the Halloween weekend. Sitting on the third floor/attic/make shift art room in a gorgeous house in Venice Beach this weekend dressed as Alex from Clockwork Orange I witnessed what can only be described as pure magic.  A few of us at the party huddle around the incredibly genuine Jules as she began to paint. At first I was more interested in the drink that was in my hand and the sexy dressed up bumble bee that had found her way to my lap, but soon enough I couldn’t take my eyes off of what was taking place in front of me. Jules, who at times wasn’t even looking at her canvas, began to make it come alive. The most beautiful aspect was how effortlessly she stroked the brush across the canvas looking as if she was more interested in the conversation she was having with us rather than the masterpiece she was creating. It’s pretty breathtaking getting the opportunity to witness an individual being able to turn their imagination into reality. Enjoy

JAMIE WOON

I guess I owe it to this little thing called "Lady Luck" that a dear friend introduced me to the incredible Jamie Woon. The term "singer songwriter" leaves such a bad taste in my mouth these days, but Jamie is an exception. Few singer songwriters encompass the amount of soul and passion Jamie brings to his music. With such a unique and endearing tone to his vocal Jamie manages to attract both men and women to fall in love with his "Swag". This same friend when introducing Jamie to me said "yeah he's about one step away from becoming Seal" hahaha, I couldn't help but agree. Mirrorwriting, this British sensations' full length album is packed with hits that scream "baby making music". I'm excited to see what Jamie brings us next I can only hope Lady Luck continues to be on his side.

SKRILLEX

So I don’t know if any of you have been hiding in a cave for the last few years but there is a new genre of electronic music that has taken the scene by storm. Dubstep has single handedly bent over electronic music and made it their bitch. Personally I can't stand it! 95% of Dubstep is complete garbage and it all sounds the exact same to me. I remember being at Electric Daisy Carnival in LA in 2010 walking past the Dubstep tent, slightly cringing and trying my best to shield my ears from this god awful music and I shit you not I walked past the same tent 3 hours later and I swear to god they were playing the exact same song, well so it seemed because every track sounds the exact same. With that being said there is a small glimmer of hope in this genre that I'm sure is to fade quicker than Vanilla Ice did in the 90's. That glimmer is the small framed, highly controversial, 23 year old DJ/Producer by the name of Skrillex. Skrillex (real name Sonny Moore) once the front man for Scremo rock band From First To Last has slowly become the sole leader and bright shining star in this sub-par genre of electronic music. The reason I'm even bothering to mention his name is because of the video I posted above. Few music videos rarely cross my path while I'm surfing the viral world that blow my mind, but I can honestly say this video has done just that. Touching on what quite possibly could be the most sickening subject matter I can think of (child molestation) this video has done something few videos have ever made me do. It literally made me get out of my chair, stand up and start clapping and cheering uncontrollably. I'm not quite sure who in Skrillex camp (possibly even Moore himself) came up with this concept but it is quite simply put "fucking brilliant!" I wish there were more words that could describe how I feel about this video, but I think the best thing to do now is let you watch and enjoy. Hopefully you get the same enjoyment I got from this video.

JUSTICE

I see it only fitting that I begin this journey with a band that has revolutionized the electronic music scene and has somehow found a way to continue to showcase their badass persona even as they have drifted into the dreadful, but inevitable realm known as "mainstream" .  Audio, Video, Disco, Justice's new album drops today and once again these eccentric Frenchman have taken their rightful place as the Kings of Electro. The featured track Helix takes you on an adventure through what sometimes feels like an 80's videogame. If you can sit through the entire track without having the urge to jump out of your seat and start busting out Michael Jackson dance moves then something is wrong with you. But what else should I expect from my favorite record label Ed Banger. With the collaborative ideas being thrown between the scenes toughest artists (Breakbot, Busy P, Mr. Ozio, SebastiAn, etc) greatness is bound to start spewing out in the form of hit record after hit record. So with my first post on my first music blog I'd like to keep this short and simple, offering the world my twisted yet passionate take on today's music scene.
